This year saw the conclusion to Marvel Studios’ Phase 3 run of movies as Avengers: Endgame hit the big screen in a wave of hype, hope & heroes.
It marked the culmination of Marvel’s long-game with a plane spanning 20+ movies and while there are a mix of highs & lows across those movies for most……it’s hard to say that there isn’t at least something for everyone in that run. An extensive runtime saw the fans salivating at what was to come and I include myself in that, but what we got was a rollercoaster of everything I could’ve wanted from a final battle. The sacrifices, the redemption, the losses and the wins were all on show and while I had my initial doubts of just how the full roster of characters in attendance could be given any kind of on-screen balance…. it felt like they achieved the impossible and then some.
The loose ends were tied up, the torches were passed and some of the COOLEST on-screen depictions of a comic book family reaching their full potential was there on for all to see. It’s longevity will make itself apparent when the next phases begin but for this fan…..the journey through each characters solo movies and the collective Avengers films that had gone before this were never more perfectly summed up than in this finale.
