While Rebirth has marked a significant change in DC’s comic universe, there still didn’t feel like there was much to hold my attention for an extended period of time but that all changed when the Dark Nights event kicked off this year.
Back in January DC started to tease their Rebirth event that would see a new beginning for pretty much every one of DC’s main characters…..it would also see the DC titles on my pull list go through the roof as I chose to jump on board as completely as I possibly could and experience each and every Rebirth title.
It’s week 17 and there’s another two Rebirth issues kick-off which are looking to join a series of successes that DC have brought us recently.
After another gap last week with continuing Rebirth stories – we got a new series starting this week that I’ve been waiting on since it was announced….
While last week saw DC’s latest movie hit theatres in the shape of Suicide Squad it was no real surprise that the Rebirth issues released in the same week tied into the same big screen characters.
Last week saw just one Rebirth one-shot hit although some of those ongoing titles are maintaining some pretty impressive consistency at the same time like Detective Comics, The Flash & Nightwing…..but lets see what the new kid on the block offered.
It’s another week of new Rebirth one-shots & new titles from DC and with momentum firmly behind the creative teams the quality seems to have been getting better and better……which was always the hope.
After last weeks release of Annuals DC returned with more Rebirth action as some titles start to get into their stride on their first arc and the one-shots keep coming as part of that mix.
There are some big screen comic book movies due in 2016 but we’ll also have a sea of TV shows returning to our small screens after the holiday break and some new ones coming our way….
Geoff Johns kicked off the EPIC DarkSeid War in DC’s Justice League title and the scale & intricate detail Johns brings to this is awe-inspiring on every level.
