G-Man’s Highlights of 2019: Jeff Lemire

My mainstream pull-list tends to vary quite a bit over the course of any given year as I drop in & out of some of the long running series on offer but 2019 seems to have been a year where Jeff Lemire’s name has appeared numerous times across a whole mix of titles I’ve loved.

I’ve read some of his previous titles before of course but with the likes of Gideon Falls, Joker: Killer Smile, Frogcatchers & more all showcasing his ability to build a strong set of characters in a story you become engrossed in, I’m pretty sure he’ll be appearing on a lot of peoples pull lists in one form or another.  His unique blend of storytelling sees him cover the superhero/supervillain combo, the horror angle and then a tale with a more personal vibe to it that plucks at those heart-stings with a strange sense of poetic beauty with them all seeming to just fit my idea of what makes a good story.

Pairing up with some impressive collaborators lalong the way who draw, letter & colour the world he’s got in his head or even taking the art duties on himself to really embrace the whole process.  He just seems to embody the very best that comics have to offer in whatever theme he’s involved in……..and I can’t wait to see what he’ll bring us in 2020.

You can check out Jeff’s Blog for more info on his titles and keep tabs on what else he’s working on over on Twitter too.
