G-Man’s 12 Highlights of 2018: Day 4 – Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse

It’s been another year filled with Comic Book movies but the latest Spider-Man outing from Sony captured everything I love about the character.

The first appearance of this animated version caught me off-guard at first but as more glimpses started to appear over the year I have to admit that my interest was on the increase as the hype kicked into over-drive.  I was  fortunate enough to get into a panel about the movie at MCM London back in October and the wave of excitement that hit the hall was palpable as we found out we were getting an early look at the first half of the movie.  I came out of that panel buzzing at what I’d seen and revisiting it when it hit the cinema recently captured everything that I think of when one of my favourite characters make the leap from comic book to small or big screen.  The balancing act that goes on in the movie is perfect with the theme of multiple Universes and multiple versions of a single character are managed with real style & poise.  It’s funny, it’s exciting but it still manages to capture a heart to the story that has always been one of the most vital elements.  Introducing Miles Morales to the masses as well as a host of other Spider-Men made this a film that had me smiling and laughing well beyond leaving the cinema.  One I’m sure to see again and I’ll tag along with anyone else who wants to see it too.  Can’t wait to see more of this in the future.
