Edinburgh Comic Con eases into its fifth year in just a couple of weeks and it’s one of the few events in the country that I’ve made it to every year.
The difference for me this year is that it kicks off my Con-going calendar and given how much I’m looking forward to it………I can’t wait for these next few weeks to pass. In typical fashion, James Lundy and his team have been steady with their release of details as the year has gone on and with their return to the EICC they are continuing to gear their show towards a unique blend of Comic event with the broader appeal of media, cosplay, props, gaming, wrestling and more. They’ve been able to control the growth of their event year on year while sustaining a balance to the show that doesn’t have that “money-grab” vibe but instead having much more of a geek-filled community feel to it which becomes infectious as the weekend progresses.
The guest-list has grown too with a heady mix of comic and film/TV names which looks to be as impressively consistent as it always has been featuring some UK exclusive comic guests appearances with Deadpool co-creator Fabian Nicieza (New Mutants, X-Men, X-Force, Cable & Deadpool), Spider-Gwen co -creator Robbi Rodriguez (FPB, Maintenance, Uncanny X-Force, New Mutants), Andrea Tamme (Rick and Morty, Adventure Time, Black Light: District 6),Jorge Fornes (Wolverine and the X-Men, Amazing X-Men, Doctor Strange, Guardians of Infinity) and Drake Tsui (SIN, Riot Games) plus a ton of other returning guests & small press creators.
From film and TV exclusive guest Briana Venskus (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, The Walking Dead, Supergirl, Outcast, The Vampire Diaries) with Stefan Kapicic (Deadpool, Counterpart, 24), Daz Crawford (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Blade II, God of War), Dominic Keating (Star Trek: Enterprise, Heroes, Sons of Anarchy, Diablo III), Paul Amos (Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, Lost Girl, Warehouse 13, Designated Survivor) and Joshua Herdman (Harry Potter, Thunderpants) all join the ranks for the weekend too.
Head over to the Edinburgh Comic Con website to see a full list of guests, as well as what’s on over the weekend and get your hands on the event app to help with planning your weekend visit. You can also keep tabs over on Facebook & Twitter for more updates as the event weekend gets closer. See you there 😉
