2000AD’s 40th Anniversary may well hit at the end of February and while it’s being marked with an event on 11th February there’s lots more planned outside of that to mark the milestone for one of the most recognized comic releases in the UK.
First up is the 2000AD Life Drawing session Muties & Perps organised by the Art Model Collective which is open to all artists & illustrators and takes place at the Resistance Gallery. Check out the Facebook Event for more information and get hold of pre-order tickets here.
Sunday 5th February (2-5pm)
Next up is FUTURE SHOCK: 40 YEARS OF 2000 AD at London’s Cartoon Museum which will showcase artwork from 2000AD’s impressive contributors over the last four decades.
Running from Wednesday 25th January – Sunday 23 April 2017
Later in February we’ll have 2000 AD ORIGINAL ART EXHIBITION as part of GEEK 2017 which will feature more original artwork form the pages of 2000AD plus you’ll see special guest Rufus Dayglo in a comic book workshop too.
Check out the Facebook Event for more info.
Running from Friday 17th February – Sunday 19th February 2017
You can find out more on both exhibitions over on the 2000AD website too.
Kevin O’Neill & Pat Mills will be doing a signing at Gosh London to tie in with the 40th Anniversary event and the release of their new book Read Em and Weep Vol 1: Serial Killer.
Check out the Gosh London Facebook event for more info and get along to check out the new book & the Gosh shop.
The event itself looks to have a who’s who of 2000AD contributors from the last 40 years and it’s no wonder that it’s a sell-out.
The full line-up and schedule for the day can be found over on the 2000AD website.
There’s also a long list of special merchandise being released for the show which Comics Alliance has a first glimpse at over on their website and on top of that there’s a list of Graphic Novel releases from 2000AD for the whole year too.
Directly tying in with the event on the 11th February is the beginning of a 2 week exhibition that looks at the wider impact 2000AD has had on pop culture at Orbital Comics. Check out their website link here to find out more about the event.
You can keep up to date with what else is being planned on the events Website & Facebook page and keep tabs on the 2000AD’s website, Facebook & Twitter pages for all the latest news about what else will be marking their 40th Anniversary.
